This sloop route from Heeg goes via Woudsend to Balk. From Balk, it takes you along the Luts through Gaasterland towards the Galamadammen. You will then sail back to Heeg across the Fluessen and the Heegermeer.
Via the Nauwe Wijmerts or via the Rakken you set course for the village first Woudsend.
Woudsend is a modern water sports town with many terraces and plenty of mooring possibilities in the village. With its beautiful alleys, vistas and 2 windmills, Woudsend is well worth mooring.
Once you have passed Woudsend you come to the Slotermeer. On Slotermeer, turn right and sail to the village of Balk. On the Slotermeer you can enjoy the many sails of sailing schools and sailing camps that have the Slotermeer as their sailing area.
From the Slotermeer, you cruise along the Luts through the pretty village of Balk. Passing under little bridges, the Luts takes you right through the centre of the village. Balk is a lively village with nice shops and terraces along the Luts.
After Balk, the route continues along the Luts. The Luts is also known as a stumbling block in the 11 cities route. The ice does not want to get thick as quickly here because of the shelter of the forest. The Luts is a picturesque little river with often dense vegetation on both sides. Passing other boats can become a small challenge on the sometimes narrow stretches of the little river. But what a beautiful piece of scenery to sail through. Boating through the forest, where else do you do it?
Via the Luts you come to the beautiful lake Wyldemerk. Did you know that this nature reserve is home to the only dragonfly sanctuary in Europe. So don't be surprised if the dragonflies here fly with you for a while.
Finally, via the Spookhoekstervaart you reach the Fluessen.
Here you get back on the big water and feel the wind in your hair again. On summer days, you are short of eyes so many different boats you see sailing. From sturdy motorboats to polyvalken, fast catamarans and the beautiful skuts with their big brown sails. Solo sailors, but also groups. You can stop off on the Fluessen or the Heegermeer to enjoy everything if necessary.
